Mulanje Cedar Day

Bedgebury recently played host to school children from 4 local schools when they came in over two days to learn more about tree conservation and to play their part in helping to save the critically endangered Mulanje cedar (scientific name@ Widdringtonia whytei).

This was part of a joint initiative planned and executed by Bedgebury Pinetum, Botanic Gardens Conservation International and local charity, Starfish Malawi to raise awareness of the plight of the Mulanje cedar, a conifer species in danger of becoming extinct in the wild.
