Sarah Harrington-James

butterflyI've always had a love of nature from a young age and used to spend hours in my parents' garden trying to catch butterflies with my net and watching the wildlife. I got involved with conservation volunteering while in the sixth form, but it isn't until now, after over a decade working in the media, that I'm finally following my passion in life and retraining as an ecologist.

Currently I am studying for a University Certificate in Biological Recording and Species Identification through Manchester Metropolitan University, in conjunction with the Field Studies Council.

I still enjoy volunteering in my spare time as an advisor for Kent Wildlife Trust, giving advice and tips on wildlife friendly gardening to entrants of their Wild About Gardens awards, and I collate butterfly sighting data for Butterfly Conservation.
