Dog Walking Policy

Dogs on leads are welcome in the National Pinetum - bins are provided for you to clear up after your dog.  Bags are available from the Visitor Centre if you have forgotten to bring one with you. In addition, please keep your dog on a lead in the children's play area and the car park, and under close control at all times. Dogs (except assistance dogs) are not allowed inside the Visitor Centre or Café.

The forest trails (excluding the single-track cycle trails where dogs are not permitted at all for the safety of both cyclists and dogs) are the only areas where you are permitted to let your dog off the lead. Please be aware of and considerate to other forest users such as horse riders, cyclists and families with children. Excited dogs can frighten people and other animals! It is also important to remember that some areas of the forest may be inhabited by adders and some of the lakes may contain algae, both of which could cause harm to your dog.

Please see the map below or ask at the Visitor Centre if you need further clarification.
