October 2017 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the Great Storm of 1987 which laid to waste huge areas of the country including Bedgebury Pinetum. That act of nature changed Bedgebury's landscape forever and it still influences the way that the Forestry Commission manage the site. A legacy trail has been developed which tells the story of the devastation caused that night and its repercussions throughout the Pinetum.
