We recommend that if you are venturing into the forest, you take a map and a mobile phone. It is not unknown for people to get lost. Hard-backed copies of the Bedgebury map are on sale at the Visitor Centre for £2.00 (FREE to new members of the Friends). A free map of the Pinetum, with the suggested route of the season, is also available from the Visitor Centre.
Hidden secrets of the Pinetum: get off the beaten track and discover areas that are hidden from the main visitor route. Click here to download a printer-friendly version of the trail.
We'd love to hear what you think about this walk! Please download a feedback form here and hand this in to the Visitor Centre on your return.
Please note that for a period in mid-June each year, the section on the map between point 4 and point 7 is inaccessible because of the Forest Live concert arena. It is possible to walk directly from point 4 to point 7 so that the remaining walk can be enjoyed. From time to time, forest maintenance works may also result in diversions. For your safety, please observe any diversion signs you see on your walk. Please contact the Information Office at the Visitor Centre if you require more assistance.
The Forestry Commission have a series of orienteering maps. These are available from the Information Office for £2.00 each.
The four levels are:
White - Young Children
Yellow - Beginners
Orange - Intermediate
Light Green - Advanced (experienced only)
