10815917 10201956254948371 130236584 n3With its varied landscapes, Bedgebury has a huge range of fungi from grassland species to woodland specialists. Fruit bodies are visible all year round, but the classic autumn varieties are best seen in September and October, the timing being dependent on how wet it has been during late summer.

Removal of fungi from the Pinetum is strictly forbidden.  Our tree team use the sight of fungus as an indicator that a tree is under stress and may need extra attention. In addition, some fungi are poisonous so you should never eat them unless you are sure they are safe. Others should not be picked due to their rare status in the UK.
